Trexler's Game One Walk-off Leads Softball to DH Sweep over Wilkes

Center Valley, PA (March 18, 2022) - Junior Lily Trexler hit a walk-off home run in game one leading the DeSales University softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Wilkes University on Friday evening at McGettigan Park.

Game One (W/2-1)
Trexler hit the walk-off over the left field fence with one out in the bottom of the seventh completing a come-from-behind win in which DeSales trailed 1-0 into the fifth inning.

DSU tied the game at one in the bottom of the fifth on a two-out RBI single from junior Kayleigh Ferraro setting the stage for Trexler.

Senior Heather Hall earned the win pitching a complete-game allowing nine hits and striking out one.

Game Two (W/7-2)
The Bulldogs once again had to come from behind trailing 1-0 after two innings.

DSU scored twice in the third inning on RBI singles from junior Nicole Secara and Ferraro, twice in the fourth on an RBI double from Trexler and another RBI single from Secara, once in the fifth on back-to-back doubles from senior Reilly Kerr and first-year Madison Kellyand twice more in the sixth on RBIs from junior Olivia Ondrejca and Kerr.

Sophomore Alanna Hartzell earned the win in the circle pitching 5 1/3 strong innings allowing one earned run and striking out four.  First-year Rachel Lowry picked up her second save of the year pitching the final 1 2/3 innings allowing one hit.

Secara finished the game 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored, while Kerr and Kelly each had two hits.

The Bulldogs are back on the field on Sunday when they host Montclair State University in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
