Softball Sweeps Delaware Valley; Stays Unbeaten in MAC Freedom

Doylestown, PA (March 26, 2022) - The DeSales University softball team stayed unbeaten in the MAC Freedom in a doubleheader sweep of Delaware Valley University by scores of 6-5 and 10-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Game One (W/6-5)
DSU trailed 2-0 entering the sixth inning but took advantage of an Aggie error extending the inning paving the way for first-year Abigail Rodriguez to come thru with a two-out, two-run double to tie the game.

The Bulldogs took their first lead in the top of the seventh scoring four times to take a 6-2 lead that included a three-run home run from senior Kristen Suran and DSU hung on in the bottom of the frame after Delaware Valley rallied for three runs to climb back within one run.

First-year Tabitha Lawless earned the win in the circle pitching four strong innings allowing three unearned runs, striking out three.

Juniors Nicole Secara and Kayleigh Ferraro as well as first-year Madison Kelly each had two hits in the game one win.

Game Two (W/10-4)
DeSales started quickly in this one scoring four times in the first inning with Suran providing a bases clearing double.  The Bulldogs added runs in the second and fourth innings and led 6-1 thru five frames.

Del. Val. clmibed back in the game with three runs in the sixth but DSU put the exclamation point on the win with four tallies in the top of the seventh to provide the final tally.

Senior Reilly Kerr, sophomore Alexys Vernier, and junior Lily Trexler each had three hits in the win.  Suran added two more hits and four RBIs, while Secara and junior Victoria Agnoli also had two hits.

First-year Rachel Lowry earned the win with a complete-game effort allowing four runs, striking out five.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to local rival Moravian University beginning at 3:00 pm.
