Softball Splits DH at Elizabethtown; Kerr Posts Six Hits in DH

Elizabethtown, PA (April 10, 2022) - The DeSales University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Elizabethtown College dropping game one, 11-4, before taking game two, 13-4 on Sunday afternoon,

Game One (L/4-11)
The Blue Jays took an early 5-0 lead with five runs in the first inning before the Bulldogs got two back in the second inning on RBI singles from first-year Torii Kenney and junior Victoria Agnoli.

DSU got within 5-3 in the fourth but Elizabethtown scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth, and three times in the sixth to pull away for the win.

Kenney and senior Reilly Kerr each had two hits to lead the offense.

First-year Rachel Lowry took the loss allowing those five first inning runs.

Game Two (W/14-3)
DeSales led 2-1 into the third inning when the Bulldogs broke it open scoring seven times in the third inning as junior Alexa Fancera had a two-RBI triple and sophomore Megan Burns, junior Chloe Pauls, and first-year Madison Kelly each had RBI singles.

The Bulldogs added five more runs in the fourth inning before posting the final tally.

Kerr finished 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs and junior Kayleigh Ferraro went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.  Burns, sophomore Rebecca Kibler, Kelly, Pauls, and Fancera all had two hits.

Sophomore Alanna Hartzell earned the win pitching two innings allowing just one earned run.

The Bulldogs are back on the diamond tomorrow when they host Stevens in a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 3:30 pm.
