Kerrville, TX (March 6, 2022) - The DeSales University baseball team opened its spring break trip out to Texas with a DH sweep at Schreiner University on Sunday afternoon.
Game One (W/6-4)
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning despite leaving the bases loaded but fell behind 2-1 after Schreiner scored twice in the bottom half of the inning.
The Bulldogs got that run back in the top of the second inning and took the lead for good with three runs in the third on just one hit.
It was a 5-4 game into the sixth when seniorÂ
Billy Scanlon singled home an insurance run and seniorÂ
Ian Kacergis did the rest pitching a complete-game allowing just six hits and three earned, striking out six to earn his second win of the year.

Joe Grigas IVÂ had three hits in the game one win.
Game Two (W/7-5)
DeSales jumped ahead in this one scoring twice in the first on a two-run blast from Scanlon and five more times in the third thanks in part to an RBI triple from seniorÂ
Robert Lamm and a two-run home run from seniorÂ
Dillon Drew. SeniorÂ
Trevor Leamer also had a solo shot in the inning.
Schreiner climbed back in the game with a run in the fourth and four runs in the fifth but first-yearÂ
Will Shelden closed the door on the rally in the fifth and seniorÂ
Will Manley earned a save to preserve the victory. JuniorÂ
Ryan Rieber got the win pitching 4 2/3 innings allowing four earned and striking out three.
Lamm and Leamer each had two hits, while Scanlon and Drew each drove in two runs.
The Bulldogs are back at it tomorrow when they take on Southwestern University.
