Doylestown, PA (April 1, 2022) - The DeSales University baseball team opened its three-game weekend series with a 12-3 win at Delaware Valley University on a chilly and windy Friday afternoon.
The win was DSU's eighth straight over the Aggies and improved DeSales to 65-20 all-time vs. Delaware Valley.
The Bulldogs took an early 2-0 lead with two tallies in the first innings including an RBI double from first-yearÂ
Patrick Kusters. DSU extended its lead to 5-2 with three runs in the third including back-to-back doubles from seniorÂ
Liam Kile and juniorÂ
Colin Trembley.
The Aggies cut into the lead with two runs in the fifth but DeSales closed the door on a comeback with four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. SeniorÂ
Billy Scanlon had a two-run blast, his seventh home run of the season, and sophomoreÂ
Gavin Zavorski had a two-run double.
JuniorÂ
Ryan Rieber earned the win pitching five strong innings allowing four hits and two runs. JuniorÂ
Michael Pierce recorded a save tossing three innings of relief allowing just two hits and one run.
SeniorÂ
Dillon Drew led a 14-hit attack with three hits, while Tremble, Zavorski, and seniorÂ
Trevor Leamer all had two hits.
These two teams will wrap-up the three-game set with a doubleheader at Weiland Park beginning at 3:00 pm.
