Baseball Completes Sweep of Delaware Valley with Walk-off Win in Game Two

Center Valley, PA (April 2, 2022) - The DeSales University baseball team completed its three-game sweep of Delaware Valley University winning both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon including a walk-off win in game two.

Game One (W/17-0)
Senior Ian Kacergis had a no-hitter thru 4 2/3 innings and was all DSU needed in this one tossing a complete-game shutout allowing five hits and striking out two to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the first inning, two in the third inning, four more in the fifth inning, and blew the game wide open with seven runs in the sixth inning.

Seniors Trevor Leamer and Robert Lamm each had home runs in the win as DSU totaled 14 hits.

Leamer finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, Lamm was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, and senior Hunter Spalt and junior Joe Grigas IV each had two hits.  Senior Liam Kile had four RBIs and sophomore Travis Kerr had three RBIs.

Game Two (W/8-7)
DeSales was in complete control of this one scoring three times in the first, once in the second on a solo home run from junior Colin Trembley, and twice in the third inning.

Sophomore Jared Drake was cruising into the fifth inning, taking a no-hitter into the frame before a three-run home run ended both the no-hitter and the shutout bid.

The Aggies would scored three more in the sixth to tie the game at six.

DSU got a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead but couldn't hold the lead in the seventh as Delaware Valley tied it once again.

In the bottom of the seventh, Leamer singled with one out and senior Billy Scanlon scored him easily with a deep double to the fence in right-center field ending the game.

First-year Mike Romano earned the win striking out the only batter he faced in the top of the seventh.

Leamer finished off a terrific day going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, Scanlon had two hits and three RBIs, and senior Dillon Drew had two hits.

These two wins move DSU to 11-9 on the season and move head coach Tim Neiman within two wins earning career win #800 in his career.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Ursinus College beginning at 3:30 pm.
