Center Valley, PA (April 23, 2022) - Senior
Ian Kacergis tossed a complete-game shutout leading the DeSales University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of King's clinching a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason on Saturday afternoon.
Game One (W/10-0)
Kacergis was masterful in game one allowing just five hits and striking out eight to improve to 7-0 on the season. He only allowed three runners to reach second base over seven innings.
DeSales scored early and often with six runs in the first inning and two each in the second and third innings.
First-year
Patrick Kusters, senior
Robert Lamm, junior
Joe Grigas IV, and senior
Hunter Spalt all had two hits in the game one win with Lamm and Spalt each collecting three RBIs.
Game Two (W/7-1)
King's took a 1-0 lead in this one with a run in the top of the first inning and continued to lead into the bottom of the fourth inning when the Bulldogs took control.
DSU scored five times in the fourth including a two-run double from senior
Dillon Drew and added two runs in the fifth on RBI doubles from senior
Trevor Leamer and Drew.
Sophomore
Jared Drake earned the win pitching five strong allowing six hits and one run, striking out six. Senior
JJ Paul tossed two scoreless in relief.
DSU is now 11-7 on the season in the MAC Freedom clinching a spot in the top four with one three-game set with Arcadia University left to finish up the regular season.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Manhattanville College beginning at 6:00 pm.
