Softball Drops Two at King's, 6-5 and 5-1

Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 23, 2022) - The DeSales University softball team dropped both ends of a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at King's College, 6-5 and 5-1.

Game One (L/5-6)
The Bulldogs got off to a quick start in the first game scoring twice in the first on back-to-back doubles from junior Olivia Ondrejca and senior Reilly Kerr and led 5-0 after three runs in the third inning.

King's got all three of those runs back in the bottom of the third inning and tied game at five with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.  The Monarchs had runners on first and third in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and got the game-winning run on a ground ball to shortstop that was bobbled allowing the runner at second to be safe at second as the winning run trotted home.

Senior Heather Hall took the loss allowing the seventh inning unearned run.  Junior Nicole Secara and Ondrejca each had two hits, while first-year Tori Kenney and Kerr had three hits in game one.

Game Two (L/1-5)
King's scored in each of the first four innings to build a 5-0 lead and held off a seventh inning rally by the Bulldogs after four of the first fave batters reached base to sweep the conference doubleheader.

Kenney had two more hits in game two and Hall took the loss allowing five runs over 3 1/3 innings.  First-year Tabitha Lawless tossed 2 2/3 scoreless in relief.

The Bulldogs are back at it tomorrow when they host Stevens in another important MAC Freedoom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
