Women's Lacrosse Starts Quick but Falls to Misericordia, 16-6

Center Valley, PA (April 27, 2022) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team scored the first three goals of the game but fell to Misericordia University, 16-6, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Misericordia - 16, DeSales - 6
  • Records: DeSales (7-9, 3-4 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (9-6, 5-2 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs fall to 0-5 all-time vs. the Cougars.
  • DeSales is still alive in the race for the MAC Freedom postseason and will need a win on Saturday at Delaware Valley and hope that Arcadia loses to Misericordia and Lycoming loses to Stevens on Saturday.  If that scenario plays out, DSU will earn the #5 seed and travel to Lycoming College on Monday for the #4/#5 quarterfinal play-in game.
How it Happened
  • DeSales was on fire to start this one scoring the game's first three goals to take a 3-0 lead just 3:29 into the game.
  • The Cougars closed the quarter with three straight goals to tie the game at three.
  • Both teams exchanged goals to start the second quarter tying the game at four before MU took control scoring the next nine goals between the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third quarter to take a 13-4 lead and never looked back from there.

  • Molly Celesky finished with four goals.
  • Michelle Torzilli added three goals and two assists and Alyssa Delgadillo had three goals and an assist.
  • Maggie McGovern made nine saves in goal.
