Bowen Breaks All-Time Scoring Record in 16-6 Win at FDU-Florham

Florham, NJ (April 6, 2022) - Senior Zach Bowen became the DeSales University men's lacrosse all-time leading scorer leadng the Bulldogs to a 16-6 win overFDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 16, FDU-Florham - 6
  • Records: DeSales (5-4, 1-1 MAC Freedom); FDU-Florham (3-6, 1-1 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs are now 6-17 all-time vs. the Devils having won two straight and six of the last eight meetings with the win.
  • Bowen finished the game with three goals and seven assists giving him 192 career points, surpassing DeSales' Hall of Famer Brian Kuttler for #1 on the all-time scoring list.  Kuttler had held the record with 188 points since 2005.
How it Happened
  • The first quarter was a game of runs as DSU scored the first three goals but the Devils matched it with three straight to end the quarter tying the game at three.
  • DeSales took control from there scoring nine straight goals including seven straight in the second quarter, taking a 10-3 halftime lead, and never looked back in the second-half.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Bowen's seven assists tied the single-game record and his 10 points are tied for the fourth most in a game.  He is now the all-time leader in both goals and points at DeSales.
  • Sophomore Pat Schuett added four goals and two assists for six points.
  • Sophomore Luke Wilson and junior Harrison Bodwell each scored twice.
  • Junior Domenic Maria, junior Beau Neff, graduate student Jalen Holmes, and sophomore Pat Wixted all scored once.
  • Junior Zach Broomall won 17-of-21 faceoffs and had 12 ground balls in the win.
  • Sophomore Quinten Lyons had nine saves and allowed just four goals in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Michael Stewart had three goals and Drew Gallagher finished with a goal and two assists.
  • Dan Schlupp totaled 10 saves in goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot the Devils, 48-29, and had a 50-34 advantage in ground balls.
  • The Bulldogs won 20-of-26 faceoffs.
