Ritchie, Citrone, Sherrill Still Alive After Day One at MAC Individual Tournament

Wilkes-Barre, PA (September 10, 2022) - Juniors Augie Citrone and Philip Ritchie along with senior Mark Sherrill are all still alive after day one at the MAC Individual Tournament on Saturday.

No. 1 Singles
Citrone entered as the #4 seed but fell in the opening round to Logan Gregory (King's), 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).

No. 2 Singles
Ritchie entered as the #2 seed and won two matches on Saturday to advance into the semifinals winning his first round match, 6-4, 6-0 over Francis Tamesis (Arcadia) and his quarterfinal match, 6-1, 6-1 over Luke Leach (Lycoming).

No. 3 Singles
Senior Will Pollick won his first round match, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) but fell in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-2 to Matt Emery (FDU-Florham).

No. 4 Singles
Sherrill won his first round match, 6-0, 6-2 over Mohamed Ebeid (Lycoming) and advanced into the semifinals with a win by retirement from Ben Dorsey (York).

No. 5 Singles
Senior Ethan McCombs was a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) winner in the first round over Shane Kern (Alvernia) but fell to the top seed, Sebastian Wroe (Stevens) in the quarterfinals, 6-0, 6-0.

No. 6 Singles
Sophomore Alessio Flores fell in the first round, 6-3, 6-2 to Michael Vogt (Albright).

No. 7 Singles
Sophomore Brent Holzman lost 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals to Kyiacos Petrou (Stevens)

No. 1 Doubles
Citrone and Ritchie entered as the #4 seed and earned an 8-5 win in the first round over DeVage/Kratz (Eastern) and advanced to the semifinals with an 8-1 quarterfinal win over Redell/Leach (Lycoming).

No. 2 Doubles
Pollick and Sherrill were named the #4 seed as well and won via walkover in the first round but fell 8-2 in the quarterfinals to Gingerich/Baker (Messiah).

No. 3 Doubles
McCombs/Blomquist entered as the #2 seed but were upset in their first match, 8-4, by Huha/Vogt (Albright).

No. 4 Doubles
Flores/Holzman won its first match, 8-5 over Zheng/Nole (King's) before falling to Ha/Wroe (Stevens), 8-0, in the semifinals.

Action gets re-started tomorrow at 8 AM.
