Montclair, NJ (September 17, 2022) - The DeSales University women's soccer team gave #12 Montclair State University a battle falling on two late goals, 3-1, in non-conference action on Saturday evening.

The Basics

• Final Score: Montclair St. - 3 DeSales - 1
• Records: DeSales (3-2-1 overall); Montclair St. (6-0 overall)
• This was DSU's first-ever loss to the Red Hawks after winning each of the first two meetings.

How it Happened

• MSU took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute that stood into the half late into the second half.
• In the 75th minute DSU tied the game at one on a goal from sophomore Emma Ribeiro on a terrific thru pass from junior Kerrigan de Meij.
• The tie game was short lived as the Red Hawks scored less than five minutes later to take a 2-1 lead and added an insurance tally in the 84th minute.

Top Bulldog Performers

• The goal was Ribeiro's second of the season and de Meij handed out her first assist of the year.
• Junior Hannah Pacheco made six saves in goal for DeSales.

For the Foes

• Kimberly Campbell, Aileen Cahill, and Kylie Prendergast each scored for MSU.
• Haley Martin had four saves in between the pipes.
