Women's Soccer Settles for 2-2 Tie on Late York Goal

Center Valley, PA (September 21, 2022) - The DeSales University women's soccer team settled for a 2-2 tie with York College (PA) on a late goal by the Spartans in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 2, York - 2
  • Records: DeSales (3-2-2 overall); York (4-2-1 overall)
  • It is the first tie between the two teams in 12 career meetings as the Bulldogs are now 2-9-1 vs. the Spartans.
How it Happened
  • DSU took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when senior Katie Padgett dribbled to the end line and found fellow senior Allie Trick wide open in the middle of the box for an easy goal.
  • York tied the game just over six minutes later and that score stood into the half after the Bulldogs missed a PK late in the half to reclaim the lead.
  • It remained a 1-1 game into the 73rd minute when sophmore Emma Ribeiro scored from 25 yards out.
  • DeSales was less than a minute away from securing its third win over the Spartans in 12 career meetings until York found the equalizer with 1:25 left to play.

  • Ribeiro now has three goals on the season and has now scored in two straight games.
  • Trick nets her second of the year and senior Meghan Foley earned an assist on Ribeiro's tally.
  • Junior Hannah Pacheco was very good in goal making 10 saves in between the pipes.

  • Anna Morton and Erin Snyder scored YCP's goals.
  • Ashlynn Weger had an assist on the game tying goal.
  • Jacqueline Keogh made five saves.
