Washington, D.C. (September 23, 2022) - The DeSales University volleyball team split two matches on day one of the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University.
Match #1 (L/0-3 vs. Catholic)
The Bulldogs got off to a slow start dropping the first match of the day in three sets to Catholic, 25-20, 25-11, 25-22.
First-yearÂ
Abby Weise led the attack with 11 kills and seniorÂ
Austen Brewer added seven kills. Weise added 12 digs and seniorÂ
McKenzie Brady had 12 digs in the loss.
Match #2 (W/3-1 vs. Marymount)
Marymount took the first set, 25-20, but it was all Bulldogs after that winning the next three sets, 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.
Weise had 15 kills and 18 digs to lead DeSales.
SophomoreÂ
Samantha Worontzoff added nine kills and two blocks, hitting .333 and Brewer also had nine kills.
JuniorÂ
Grace Grandinetti had six kills, hitting .462, and handed out 34 assists and 13 digs. Brady finished with 21 digs.
DSU has two more matches tomorrow on day two of the tournament starting with Salisbury University in the morning.
