Catie McGrath scored with 4:28 left in the game lifting the DeSales University field hockey team past the MAC Freedom defending champs, Stevens, 2-1 in conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics

- DeSales moves to 6-1 all-time vs. the Ducks avenging its only loss during the regular season last year.
How it Happened
- DSU took a 1-0 lead into the half when first-year Jordyne Stong scored with 2:32 left in the half off a penalty corner.
- Stevens got the tying goal just over 10 minutes into the third quarter and the game remained tied late into the final quarter.
- The Bulldogs earned a corner with just under five minutes to play and made it count as Stong fired a shot off the insert and McGrath was in perfect position in front of the Ducks goalkeeper to re-direct the blast into the cage.
- DeSales nearly made it a two-goal just a few minutes later when they were awarded a penalty stroke on a breakaway but the stroke went wide and the Bulldogs were forced to kill off a few more penalty corners in the final minutes to walk away with the important MAC Freedom road win.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Stong's goal was her third of the season and McGrath tallied her second of the year.
- Strong also had an assist on the game-winner and junior Maddie Trocki had a helper on the first goal of the game.
- Sophomore Kayla Yeatman was terrific in goal making 12 saves to hold the Ducks to just one goal.
For the Foes
- Gabi Moroney had the Ducks lone goal and Julia Zatyko had an assist.
- Emily Franco finished with eight saves in the cage.
Inside the Box Score
- Stevens out-shot DeSales, 25-16, while shots on goal were 13-10 in favor of the Ducks.
- SIT also had a decisive 19-9 advantage in penalty corners.
