Men's Soccer Erases Three Goal Deficit to Earn 5-5 Tie at Cabrini

Radnor, PA (September 7, 2022) - The DeSales University men's soccer team erased a three-goal deficit in the second-half to earn a hard-fought 5-5 tie at Cabrini University in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 5, Cabrini - 5
  • Records: DeSales (0-2-1); Cabrini (0-2-1)
  • The win erases a three-game losing streak in the series with the Cavaliers and moves the Bulldogs to 15-20-4 all-time in the series between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • The first-half was the opposite of the high scoring final score as each team tallied a goal with Cabrini taking a 1-0 lead before the Bulldogs tied it at one in the 32nd minute and that score stood into the half.
  • The Cavaliers came out of the halftime locker room on fire scoring three goals in the first 12:21 to take a 4-1 lead that stood into the 64th minute.
  • A heads up play from first-year Jason Trivisonno shifted the momentum and led to DeSales getting its second goal of the game feeding fellow first-year Seydou Camara.
  • Just under five minutes later, DSU got some good fortune as the Cavalier defense tried to clear a ball and did so into its own net for an own goal.
  • Cabrini went back on top by two goals in the 76th minute but the Bulldogs refused to go away.
  • Junior Eric Clouse scored on a rocket volley from just outside the 18 to make it a 5-4 game with just under 12 minutes left and first-year Owen Maher bent in the game-tying goal from almost the same spot as Clouse in the 81st minute to tie the game at five, eventually providing the final score.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • DSU's goals were by junior Batur Yaman, Camara, Clouse, and Maher, the first for not only each player this season but the first for the team in three games.
