Lebanon, PA (October 21, 2023) - The DeSales University men's cross countrry team took home second place out of 15 teams at the Run Fast Last Chance meet hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Union Canal Tunnel Park.
The Bulldogs had another strong showing on a muddy course while going up against competition from Navy, Lancaster Bible, Stevenson, Elizabethtown, and LVC. The top five scorers averaged an 8k time of 27:48 with just a 34 second spread.
Pacing the pack was first-year Jozef Callano, who finished 18th overall in a time of 27:32.42. Junior Cody Smith was right behind in a time of 27:36.78, good for 20th place overall. Sophomore James Cook finished third for the team, setting a personal best in a time of 27:49.28 (24th overall). Senior Matt Chylack finished right behind, finishing 26th overall in a time of 27:54.35. Sophomore Antonio Rinaldi rounded out the top five finishers for the team, finishing in a time of 28:05.65 (31st overall).
A few other Bulldogs set personal bests in the last 8k of the season as well, including senior Timothy Connell (28:14.40, 34th overall) and sophomore John Murphy (30:56.41, 77th overall).
The top 12 Bulldogs will now gear up for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships this Saturday, October 28 at Misericordia University. They are looking to take home their first conference title for cross country since 2007.
