Seven Different Players Score in 8-1 Win over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (October 25, 2023) - Seven different players scored and senior Maddie Trocki recorded her 100th career point leading the DeSales University field hockey team past Delaware Valley University, 8-1, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 8, Delaware Valley - 1
  • Records: DeSales (8-7, 6-0 MAC Freedom), Delaware Valley (5-10, 2-4 MAC Freedom)
  • The win extends DSU's MAC Freedom winning streak to 17 straight games dating back to the end of the 2021 season.
  • The Bulldogs sit atop the MAC Freedom standings tied for first with Stevens ahead of the MAC Freedom regular season finale on Saturday in which the winner will earn the top seed and home field in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.
  • DeSales has now won six straight games over the Aggies and improve to 10-8 all-time vs. Delaware Valley.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs controlled play in this one the entire way as junior Delani Remp got things started 10:13 into the game.
  • Sophomore Jordyne Stong scored just 2:33 later and Trocki scored her first of two goals with 46 seconds left in the opening quarter to make it 3-0.
  • Sophomore Maddie Siegfried put home her first goal of the season 2:12 into the second quarter.
  • The Aggies got one back at the 21:47 mark but the Bulldogs regained a four-goal advantage with 1:29 left in the opening half when junior Allison Devlin scored unassisted.
  • Neither team found the back of the cage in the third quarter and DeSales added three more goals in the fourth from Trocki, sophomore Morgan Benner, and senior Catie McGrath.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Trocki's two goals give her 19 on the season, one shy of tying the single-season record of 20.
  • She now has 103 career points, making her the third player in team history with 100+ career points as she stands just one point shy of second place all-time and six points shy of tying the career mark of 109 career points.
  • Trocki also now has 42 career goals, two shy of tying the career record of 44.
  • Stong and Devlin also had assists and Remp garnered two assists in the win.
  • Stong's goal was her seventh of the year, Remp's sixth of the year, and Benner and McGrath tallied their fifth of the season.
  • McGrath is also climbing the record books ranking sixth all-time in both goals (34) and points (82) scored.
  • Senior Kayla Yeatman made the only save in the game.
For the Foes
  • Alyssa Rudd made nine saves and Maggie Helsel had a defensive save in the loss.
  • Kenzie Boyd scored DVU's goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a decisive 36-4 lead in shots, 21-2 in shots on goal.
  • The Bulldogs also led 11-4 in penalty corners.
