Turnovers Doom Men's Basketball in 92-77 Loss to Widener

Center Valley, PA (November 29, 2023) - The DeSales University men's basketball team dropped its first home game of the season falling to Widener University, 92-77, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Widener - 92, DeSales - 77
  • Records: DeSales (3-2 Overall); Widener (6-1 Overall)
  • This was the first meeting between the two teams since the 2011-12 season.
  • Widener's win snaps a five-game losing streak to the Bulldogs and evens the series at five wins each.
How it Happened
  • The game was back and forth and fast paced at the start with the Bulldogs taking a 29-25 lead at the 9:39 mark of the opening half.
  • Widener answered with a 14-2 run over the next six minutes to claim a 39-31 advantage and led by six (43-37) at the break.
  • The lead hovered around 10 points for most of the second-half and remained 10 with 8:36 to go.
  • Senior Ryan Boylan led a 9-4 run over the next three minutes capped off by a three from senior Christian Guldin that made it a five point game with 5:34 left.
  • The Pride had the answer however scoring the next 10 points to push the margin up to 15 points and the Bulldogs were unable to recover.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Guldin led the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points, hitting four three-pointers.
  • Boylan added 15 points off the bench.
  • Senior Elijah Eberly had 12 points, eight boards, and three blocks also off the bench.
  • Sophomore Matt Ciszkowski added 10 points.
  • DSU played the game without senior starting point guard, Mason Barnes, due to injury.
For the Foes
  • Dominic Dunn led the Pride with a game-high 28 points and pulled down 11 boards.
  • Kevin Schenk had 20 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
  • Luke Mazur finished with 16 points off the bench.

  • DeSales committed 16 turnovers and the Pride had just six miscues leading to a 22-5 difference in points off turnovers for the game.
