Women's Basketball Rolls to Fifth Straight Win, 76-60, at Centenary

Hackettstown, NJ (November 29, 2023) - Seniors Megan Bealer and Mikaela Reese combined for 36 points and 19 rebounds leading the DeSales University women's basketball team to its fifth straight win, 76-60, over Centenary University in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics

  • This was the first-ever meeting between DeSales and the Cyclones.
How it Happened
  • DeSales never trailed in this one and opened up a nine point lead (22-13) after a 6-0 run near the end of the first quarter before settling for a 24-18 first quarter lead.
  • It was a four point game (26-22) early in the second quarter when the Bulldogs broke it open using a 15-2 run over the span of 5:29 to take a 41-24 lead capped off by a three-pointer from junior Morgan Sterner.
  • A 15-points halftime lead quickly became 21 points after DSU scored the first six points of the third quarter.
  • The lead never dropped below 14 points in the third and peaked at 26 points several times in the fourth quarter before the final margin was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Reese finished with a game-high 21 points and added eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
  • Bealer totaled a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and added five steals.
  • Senior Amelia Saunders had 11 points off the bench.
  • Senior Olivia Scotti also reached double figures with 12 points
For the Foes
  • Vatijah Davis finished with a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds in the loss.
  • Carmen Escano added 16 points for the Cyclones.

  • Turnovers were the story of the game with DeSales forcing 27 leading to 28 points, while Centenary had just 10 points off DeSales' 12 turnovers.
