Five Reach Double Digits in Season Opening Win over Rosemont

Center Valley, PA (November 9, 2023) - Five different players scored in double digits leading the DeSales University men's basketball team to a convincing 92-53 win over Rosemont College in the season opener for both teams on Thursday evening in Billera Hall.

  • DeSales has never lost to the Ravens improving to 8-0 all-time.
  • This is the fourth straight season DSU has opened the year with a win.
How it Happened
  • DeSales took control of this one early and never looked back opening the game on a 19-3 run over the first five minutes of the game.
  • Rosemont scored six straight points to get within 10 points but DSU pushed its lead up to 22 points after a 14-2 spurt and led by 26 (52-26) at the break.
  • The lead never went below 20 points in the second-half and peaked at 43 points (92-49) late in the contest.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Junior Caleb Gibbs and senior Jordan Holmqvist led the way with 12 points each with Gibbs registering a double-double with a career-high 16 rebounds.
  • Senior Elijah Eberly added 11 points, senior Mason Barnes had 10 points and five steals, and junior Matt Ciszkowski had 10 points.
  • Senior Will Bowen finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and a team-high five assists.
For the Foes
  • Denelle Holly had a team-high 14 points in the loss.

  • DSU shot 47 percent from the field and held the Ravens to just 31.7 percent shooting.
