Fayatteville, NC (February 25, 2023) - The DeSales University baseball team jumped out to an early lead and held on late to earn its first win of the season, 8-6, over Nichols College at Methodist University on Saturday evening.
The Bulldogs took a 5-1 lead after two innings of play scoring three times in the first on one hit, two hit batters, and a walk and added two more runs in the second on one hit, an error, and two sacrifices.

Colin Trembley hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning to make it a 6-2 game before Nichols tied the score at six with four runs, three unearned, in the top of the seventh.
DSU quickly regained the lead as juniorÂ
Gavin Zavorski doubled and eventually stole home on a double steal to make it 7-6 and seniorÂ
Dillon Drew made it 8-6 with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.
First-yearÂ
Andrew McGowan earned the win pitching two innings allowing one earned run, striking out three. SeniorÂ
Will Manley got the save pitching 1 1/3 scoreless, striking out three.
The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow at Methodist taking on MIT and Methodist.
