Center Valley, PA (March 16, 2023) - The DeSales University baseball team dropped its 2023 season home opener falling to Wilkes University, 13-6, in the third game of the series between the two teams on Thursday afternoon at Weiland Park.
Each team scratched out a run over the first three innings before the Colonels took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning.
Wilkes broke it open with five runs in the top of the fifth inning and took an 11-1 lead with three more runs in the sixth inning.
DeSales clawed back in the game in the seventh inning when juniorÂ
Travis Kerr hit a grand slam to right centerfield, but the Colonels got two more runs in the eighth to make it 13-6, and the Bulldogs got no closer.

Jared Drake took the loss allowing five earned runs over 4 1/3 innings, striking out five, but also walking five.
First-yearÂ
Carson Allison had three hits for the Bulldogs.
DSU is right back to action tomorrow when they host Lycoming College for the first of three games this weekend beginning at 3:30 pm at Weiland Park.
