Comeback Falls Short in Women's Lacrosse 13-11 Loss to Albright

Center Valley, PA (March 22, 2023) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team nearly erased a six goal halftime deficit falling to Albright College, 13-11, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Albright - 13, DeSales - 11
  • Records: DeSales (3-5 overall); Albright (5-3 overall)
  • It is DSU's second straight loss to the Lions after the all-time series started last season.
How it Happened
  • The first quarter was back-and-forth as neither team held a lead more than one goal with the score deadlocked at four after the first 15 minutes.
  • The second quarter was all Lions as they opened up a 10-4 lead scoring the only six goals of the quarter.
  • DeSales responded in the third quarter scoring the first four goals of the quarter, including back-to-back tallies from senior Amanda Schultz to get with two goals at 10-8.
  • DSU trailed by three (12-9) early in the fourth quarter before back-to-back goals from junior Hayley Petrosini and first-year Christina DiGuglielmo pulled the Bulldogs within one (12-11) with 6:43 left to play.
  • DeSales had a chance to tie the game after getting a defensive stop but were unable to convert and Albright got its insurance goal with 2:41 to go and DSU ran out of time in the comeback.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Schultz led the way with three goals, while fellow senior Marina Bradley had two goals and three assists.
  • Petrosini and sophomore Meagan Landers each scored twice and DiGuglielmo had a goal and three assists.
  • First-year Hailey Linebaugh scored once and senior Dani Towey had an assist.
  • Petrosini won six draw controls and had three caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Michaela Regan finished with 10 saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • Abbie Moist totaled six goals and two assists in the win.
  • Chole Fornoff added four goals.

  • Albright had a 29-18 advantage in shots and a slight 15-13 advantage in ground balls.
