Alanna Hartzell fired a two-hit shutout in game two leading the DeSales University softball team a doubleheader split of St. Elizabeth University in non-conference action on Thursday evening.
Game One (W/10-2)
DeSales took a 5-0 lead in the second inning of the first game taking advantage of several errors by St. Elizabeth and getting RBI singles from sophomore
Abigail Rodriguez and senior
Kylie Bryant.
After the Eagles got two runs back in the fourth inning, the Bulldogs plated four more on RBI singles from sophomore
Tori Kenney and senior
Chloe Pauls, to take a 9-2 lead and finished off St. Elizabeth in the fifth on a solo home run from Bryant.
Pauls and Bryant each had two hits, while senior
Victoria Agnoli and senior
Kayleigh Ferraro each scored twice.
Sophomore
Rachel Lowry earned the win, her ninth of the season, striking out five in five innings.
Game Two (W/2-0
Hartzell was the story in this one allowing just two base-runners and striking out two to record a two-hit complete-game shutout.
DSU scored the only runs it would need in the third inning thanks to an Eagle error and RBI groundout from Ferraro.
Senior
Nicole Secara, first-year
Melissa Hickey, and Rodriguez each had two hits in the game two win.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host King's College in an important MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
