Softball Earns Split at Stevens, Winning Game Two

Weehawken, NJ (April 2, 2023) - The DeSales University softball team earned a split of a MAC Freedom doubleheader at Stevens on Sunday afternoon winning game two 6-3 after a hard fought 6-5 loss in game one.

Game One (L/5-6)
Stevens scored runs in the first, third, and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead and seemed to be rolling toward a game one win as the Bulldogs did not have a base runner thru the first five innings.

DSU left two on-base in the sixth and nearly came all the way back in the seventh scoring five runs and leaving the bases loaded as the Ducks escaped with the game one win.

Senior Victoria Agnoli, first-year Ava Goodman, and sophomore Abigail Rodriguez all had RBI hits in the sixth inning rally as Goodman and senior Nicole Secara each had two hits in game one.

Sophomore Tabitha Lawless had a strong outing in the circle in relief tossing 2 2/3 scoreless, striking out one.

Game Two (W/6-3)
DSU rode that end of game one momentum to take a 5-0 lead with three runs in the first and two runs in the second inning.

In the first senior Kylie Bryant had a two-run single, while senior Kayleigh Ferraro and sophomore Tori Kenney each had RBI hits in the second inning.

Stevens got within 5-2 after three innings before both teams traded runs in the seventh.

Sophomore Rachel Lowry earned her sixth win of the season with a complete-game effort allowing three runs and striking out three.

The Bulldogs are right back to action tomorrow when they host Elizabethtown College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 4:00 pm.
