Softball Sweeps DH with Elizabethtown; Lowry Tosses Two-Hit Shutout in Game One

Center Valley, PA (April 3, 2023) - Sophomore Rachel Lowry  tossed a two-hit complete-game shutout in game one leading the DeSales University softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Elizabethtown College on Monday evening at McGettigan Park.

Game One (W/3-0)
Lowry allowed just two hits and three total base runners, striking out three to win her seventh game of the season in this one.

DSU scored all the runs it needed in the fourth on a two-run home run from senior Kylie Bryant and a sacrifice fly from Bryant in the sixth inning.

Game Two (W/7-3)
DeSales took a 3-0 lead in the second inning of game two on an RBI double from first-year Ava Goodman and a Blue Jay error and took a 5-0 lead in the fourth on a two-RBI double from senior Kayleigh Ferraro.

The two teams traded runs in the fifth and the Bulldogs pitched out of trouble in the sixth allowing two runs before the final margin was tallied.

First-year Riley Long earned the win pitching 4 1/3 strong allowing just one run. Junior Alanna Hartzell earned her second save of the season getting the final five outs.

Bryant had three hits as did sophomore Bella Arrigo. Senior Victoria Agnoli had two hits in the win.

DSU is back in action on Thursday when they host local rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 4:00 pm.
