Hoboken, NJ (April 28, 2023) - The DeSales University baseball team fell behind early but scored nine unanswered runs to complete the three-game sweep of Stevens, 10-2, in MAC Freedom action on Friday afternoon at Dobbelaar Field.
The win completes the three-game sweep of the Ducks and gives DeSales the #3 seed in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament. DSU's opponent will either be Arcadia University or Misericordia University and will be a three-game series next weekend with the winner of the series moving onto the MAC Freedom Championship. Arcadia and Misericordia meet this weekend with the winner of the series earning the top seed and the loser becoming the #2 seed. The entire three-game series will be at the site of the #2 seed. The three-game semifinal series is slated to begin on Friday, May 5th with game one and will continue with game two on Saturday, May 6th and game three if necessary also on Saturday immediately after game two.
This will be DSU's 23rd appearance in the MAC Freedom Postseason Tournament. DeSales has won eight MAC Freedom Championships.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in this one in the top of the first inning on an RBI groundout from seniorÂ
Billy Scanlon but the Ducks responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
It remained a 2-1 game into the fifth inning when sophomoreÂ
Justin DeStaso tied the game with a solo home run to right centerfield.
DSU took control in the top of the sixth taking advantage of a two-out error by the Ducks to score four unearned runs on an RBI single from first-yearÂ
John Rorick and two-RBI double from first-yearÂ
JT Anderosky.
Rorick had another RBI single in the eighth inning and put the exclamation point on the win with three runs in the ninth inning on a bases clearing triple from juniorÂ
Gavin Zavorski.

Alex Chase earned the win pitching five strong innings allowing just one earned run and seniorÂ
Will Manley Jr. was outstanding out of the bullpen with three scoreless allowing just four hits. SeniorÂ
JJ Paul recorded the final three outs stranding runners on first and second in the ninth inning.
Anderosky finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs, sophomoreÂ
Gabe Diaz had two hits, juniorÂ
Travis Kerr had two hits and scored twice, Rorick added two hits and two RBIs, and DeStaso scored three runs.
