Harnett Scores Twice in Women's Soccer 4-2 Win over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (September 30, 2023) - Junior Tori Harnett scored twice leading the DeSales University women's soccer team past Delaware Valley University, 4-2, in the MAC Freedom opener for both teams on Saturday morning.

  • Records: DeSales (2-7-1, 1-0 MAC Freedom); Delaware Valley (6-5-1, 0-1 MAC Freedom)
  • This was DeSales' 11th straight win over the Aggies and improves DSU to 15-9-2 in the all-time series. 
How it Happened
  • DeSales scored the lone goal of the first-half when senior Elizabeth McCarthy scored directly off a corner kick feed as the ball sailed over the keeper's head.
  • Delaware Valley tied the game in the 64th minute as Savannah Rennix scored low past the charging keeper after an excellent thru pass.
  • DeSales needed just three minutes to reclaim the lead when junior Emma Ribeiro scored after a header pass from first-year Catherine Crampton.
  • Harnett made it a two-goal game scoring on a free kick in the 71st minute from about 23 yards out.
  • The Aggies got back within one in the 72nd minute before Harnett scored unassisted again in the 84th minute giving DSU its two goal cushion yet again.

  • Harnett now has a team-high six goals on the season.
  • Ribeiro has three goals over the last two games.
  • Junior Jozlyn Minnema made four saves and first-year Kayla Kinniry saved one off the line as well.
For the Foes
  • Rennix and Kailey Horton each scored for the Aggies.
  • Gillian Baker and Jess Williamson both had assists in the loss.
