Men's Basketball Torches Three-Point Nets in School-Record 14th Straight Win

Glenside, PA (January 27, 2024) - The DeSales University men's basketball team broke the school-record for consecutive wins, winning its 14th straight on the season, 87-61 at Arcadia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

  • DSU snaps the previous record set at the start of the 2003-04 season of 13-straight wins with its 14th straight win this season.
  • The Bulldogs sweep the season series with Arcadia and improve to 21-10 all-time vs. the Knights.
How it Happened
  • DeSales recorded the third best shooting percentage from beyond the arc in school history in the win today, starting the game on fire and never letting up.
  • DSU opened the game 5-of-6 from three as senior Christian Guldin hit three triples and junior Caleb Gibbs and senior Ryan Boylan also connected giving the Bulldogs a 15-4 lead in the first three minutes.
  • Arcadia chipped away at the margin getting within four before an 10-0 run, led by two more 3's from senior Will Bowen pushed the advantage up to 14 points (32-18).
  • The lead grew to as many as 17 points before the Bulldogs settled for a 45-31 lead at the halftime break.
  • Gibbs scored the first two baskets of the second-half to give DSU an 18-point lead and DeSales cruised from there as the lead never dipped below 18 and was more than 20 for nearly the entire second-half.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Junior Devin Atkinson led DeSales in this one scoring a career-high 18 points, going 6-for-6 from the field and hitting four three-pointers, adding six rebounds.
  • Guldin and fellow senior Elijah Eberly each had 13 points, with Eberly adding seven boards and a team-high tying four assists.
  • Gibbs finsihed with 11 points and seven boards and Boylan was also in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds.
For the Foes
  • Nas Johnson led the Knights with a game-high 19 points.
  • Jalen Watkins added 12 points and was just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine caroms.
  • Justin Money had 10 points and four assists.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs shot 61.9 percent from outside the arc, third best percentage in a game in team history.
  • DSU shot 56.6 percent from the field for the game.
  • DeSales also dominated the glass out-rebounding AU, 41-18.
