#22 DeSales Hands Arcadia First Loss of Season, 74-36

Center Valley, PA (January 3, 2024) - The #22 DeSales University women's basketball team got 22 points and 12 rebounds from senior Mikaela Reese opening up MAC Freedom play with a 74-36 win over previously unbeaten Arcadia University on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

  • DSU hands the Knights their first loss of the season after opening the year with 11 straight wins.

How it Happened
  • After trading baskets to start the game, DeSales scored 16 straight points and finished the final eight minutes of the first quarter on a 23-3 run to take a 26-5 lead after one quarter.
  • The second quarter was a back-and-forth battle with the lead peaking at 26 points before the Bulldogs took a 43-21 advantage into the halftime break.
  • After the Knights scored the first basket of the third quarter, DSU used a 11-2 run to claim a 54-25 lead and never really looked back from there.

  • Reese finished the night with her fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds, adding five assists, two steals, and two blocks.
  • Senior Megan Bealer added 13 points, pulling down five boards and swiping eight steals in the win.
  • Senior Olivia Scotti had 10 points and seven rebounds.
  • Senior Lindsey Welsh finished with 10 points and five rebounds.
