Ribeiro and O'Connor Score in Big 2-1 Win over FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ (October 22, 2024) - Senior Emma Ribeiro and junior Madison O'Connor each scored a goal leading the DeSales University women's soccer team to an important 2-1 win over FDU-Florham in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday evening.

  • Records: DeSales (5-9-2 overall, 2-1-1 MAC Freedom); FDU-Florham (7-9-1 overall, 0-3-1 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs have now won two straight and 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Devils to improve to 13-14-3 in the all-time series.
  • DSU now sits tied for third place in the MAC Freedom standings with seven points and three games left to play. 
How it Happened
  • DSU took a 1-0 lead that stood into halftime when Ribeiro took a ball around midfield, beat two defenders, and scored in the 14th minute of the game.
  • O'Connor made it a two goal lead 9:46 into the second-half, scoring unassisted on a nice move into the box from the left sideline.
  • The Devils got one goal back in the 75th minute but were unable to find the tying marker as DeSales escaped with the win.

  • Ribeiro now has 10 goals on the season and O'Connor tallied her third of the season.
  • Freshman Saige Santa Cruz recorded the shutout making six saves.

  • Ava Gianni had two saves in the loss.
