Women's Soccer Falls at #8 Messiah, 8-1

Grantham, PA (October 9, 2024) - The DeSales University women's soccer team hung tight for 27 minutes before ultimately falling at #8 Messiah University, 8-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
  • Messiah took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.
  • DeSales countered tying the game in the 27th minute on a gorgeous goal from sophomore Lexi Wells.
  • The goal came when senior Emma Ribeiro took a clear down the right sideline, crossed the ball into the box where junior Madison O'Connor shot was saved and Wells was there for the rebound scoring to tie the game at one.
  • The Falcons wasted no time getting back in control scoring two goals over the next 1:51 to take a 3-1 lead and led 4-1 at the half.
  • Messiah added four more goals in the second-half to post the final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Wells goal was her second of the season and O'Connor earned an assist on the play.
  • First-year Saige Santa Cruz had five saves and first-year Ava Kichline made seven saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • Six different players scored goals for the Falcons including Hannah Adai with two.
