Volleyball Ends Regular Season with Tri-Match Sweep over Baruch and Kean

Union, NJ (November 9, 2024) - The DeSales University volleyball team finished the regular season with a tri-match sweep at Kean University defeating Baruch College (3-0) and the host Cougars (3-2) on Saturday afternoon.

Match #1 (W/3-0 vs. Baruch)
DeSales dominated this one winning by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-20.  DSU held Baruch to a negative hitting percentage, totaling eight team blocks over the three sets.

First-year Allison Reimer led the attack with 12 kills, hitting .324, and added 10 digs and three aces.  Fellow first-year Brooke Signorella and senior Samantha Worontzoff each added five kills and senior Paige Lewis totaled five blocks.

First-year Grace Pfaff had 14 digs to lead the defense and sophomore Bryanna Purisima had 14 assists and 11 digs.

Match #2 (W/3-2 vs. Kean)
After dropping the opening set, 25-18, DSU led 24-22 in the second set before Kean tied the score at 24 before the Bulldogs scored three of the next four points to even the match.  DeSales held the Cougars to a negative hitting percentage in the third set, cruising to a 2-1 lead, 25-18, before the Bulldogs hit negative in the fourth set to give KU a 25-12 win tying the match at two sets each.

DSU played its best set of the match in the fifth set, hitting .500 with 11 kills and just one error to earn a 15-8 win and the five set victory.

Reimer again led the attack with 12 kills.  Signorella also had double digit kills with 10, while Lewis totaled nine kills, hitting .444, and added four blocks.  Sophomore Mackenzie Fox also had nine kills and Worontzoff totaled four blocks.

First-year Kylie Campbell finished with 21 digs and Pfaff added 13 digs.  Purisima had 21 assists and 12 digs, and first-year Veda Doxzen finished with 18 assists and eight digs.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they host Misericordia in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament semifinals beginning at 7:00 pm.
