Huge Fourth Quarter Leads Women's Lacrosse past Elizabethtown, 20-13

Elizabethtown, PA (March 13, 2024) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team scored eight goals in the fourth quarter pulling away from Elizabethtown College for a 20-13 win in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 20, Elizabethtown - 13
  • Records: DeSales (4-1 overall); Elizabethtown (1-4 overall)
  • This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • After ETown took a 1-0 lead, DSU scored three straight goals to claim a 3-1 lead and led 4-2 after one quarter of play.
  • The lead grew to as much as 7-3 before the BlueJays scored four of the next five goals to pull within one (8-7) with 3:39 to go in the first-half.
  • The Bulldogs got the last two goals of the half to take a 10-7 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • Elizabethtown scored three of the first four goals to start the third quarter to again pull within one goal.
  • Sophomore Hailey Linebaugh had the answer scoring two straight to end the third quarter and start the fourth quarter giving DSU a 13-10 lead.
  • ETown wouldn't go away again scoring three of the next four to make it a 14-13 game but the Bulldogs exploded from there scoring the last six goals of the game to pull away for the win.

  • Sophomore Christina DiGuglielmo led DSU with five goals and three assists.
  • Sophomore Sara Forchelli added two goals and three assists off the bench.
  • Junior Meagan Landers had four goals and one assist, adding two draw controls.
  • Junior Jess Brey also had five points with three goals and two assists with four draw controls.
  • Senior Hayley Petrosini scored once and had a team-high nine draw controls.
  • Linebaugh finished with two goals and one assist and sophomore Bridey Lawler totaled two goals.
  • Sophomore Danielle Sieja had a goal and five draw controls.
  • Sophomore Nicole Minelli made five saves in goal, playing the entire second-half.

  • Megan Gress led all scorers with four goals and five assists.
  • Drew Bridges had four goals and one assist.
