Doylestown, PA (March 14, 2024) - The DeSales University baseball team dropped its MAC Freedom opener after committing a costly two-out error leading to an 8-7 loss in the bottom of the ninth inning at Delaware Valley University on Thursday afternoon.
The Aggies jumped out at the start scoring four times in the first inning and twice more in the second inning chasing the Bulldogs starter to take a 6-1 lead after two innings.
DSU got a solo home run from juniorÂ
Owen Fischl in the fourth inning and a two-run homer from seniorÂ
Zach Zuchowski in the sixth inning to pull the Bulldogs within two runs (6-4).
The Bulldogs fought all the way back and took a 7-6 lead in the eighth inning, taking advantage of two Aggies errors.
JuniorÂ
Ashton Johnson entered the game in the ninth looking to close it out, retiring the first two batters easily. Del. Val. stayed alive after an error on a ground ball to shortstop and walked off with the win three batters later after three straight singles spoiled the Bulldogs 8th inning rally.

Fischl finished with three hits, while seniorÂ
Travis Kerr, Zuchowski, juniorÂ
Justin DeStaso, and first-yearÂ
Jack Sague all had two hits in the loss.
These two teams are back in action on Saturday when they host Delaware Valley in games two and three of the weekend series beginning at Noon at Weiland Park.
