Rachel Lowry fired a complete-game shutout in game one and junior
Tori Kenney had four RBI's in game two leading the DeSales University softball team to a sweep of Kean University, 2-0 and 6-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
Game One (W/2-0)
Game one was a pitcher's duel throughout and remained a scoreless tie into the bottom of the fifth inning when DeSales took advantage of a Cougar error leading to two unearned runs giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead.
Lowry did the rest pitching out of a jam in the bottom of the sixth inning and scattering nine hits over seven innings, striking out seven to earn her sixth win of the season.
First-year
Paige Hromin had two of DSU's four hits and was spectacular on defense all afternoon.
Game Two (W/6-2)
DeSales jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two after a two-run home run from Kenney.
DSU extended its lead to 6-0 in the third, scoring three unearned runs, that included a two-RBI double from Kenney after three errors from the Cougars in the inning. First-year
Kiara Castera also had an RBI double in the four-run third.
Kean got its only runs of the day in the fifth inning.
Senior
Alanna Hartzell earned her third win of the year pitching five strong innings allowing two runs and eight hits, striking out four. Junior
Tabitha Lawless pitched two innings in relief allowing just one hit and striking out three.
Kenney finished 2-for-2 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday when they host Lebanon Valley College in a MAC Freedom doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
