Women's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight, 10-6, over John Carroll

Sewanee, TN (March 4, 2024) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team opened a season 3-0 for the first time in team history after a 10-6 win over John Carroll University in its first of two games in a spring trip to Tennessee on Monday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs got off to a 3-0 lead as junior Jess Brey scored twice before John Carroll got within one goal with one second left in the first quarter.
  • JCU scored the first two goals of the second quarter to take a 5-4 lead before junior Meagan Landers stopped the run tying the game at five as both teams entered the halftime locker room.
  • DeSales opened the second-half scoring the first five goals of the half to take a 10-5 lead with 6:22 to go in the game and John Carroll managed just one more goal to post the final margin.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Christina DiGuglielmo led DSU with two goals and two assists.
  • Landers finished with two goals, one assist, three draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers in the win.
  • Sophomore Hailey Linebaugh and Brey each scored twice with Linebaugh added six ground balls and Brey totaling four draw controls and three ground balls.
  • First-year Sophia Campola had three assists and sophomore Bridey Lawler had a goal and an assist.
  • Sophomore Emma Williamson had five ground balls and junior Michaela Regan made 10 saves in goal.
For the Foes
  • Olivia Hanulak had two goals to lead John Carroll.

  • The Bulldogs enjoyed a slim 26-25 advantage in shots and an equally slim 25-24 edge in ground balls.
