Women's Lacrosse Suffers First Loss of Season, 7-6, at Sewanee

Sewanee, TN (March 6, 2024) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season falling at Sewanee College, 7-6, in the final game of the team's trip out to Tennessee over spring break.

The Basics

  • This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • Sewanee scored the first three goals of the game but DSU got on the board with 22 seconds left in the opening quarter to pull within two goals.
  • The two teams traded goals for the next three quarters as DeSales continued to trail by two before junior Jess Brey scored with 23 ticks left in the third quarter to get the Bulldogs within one goal.
  • Junior Meagan Landers tied the game at six with 9:59 to go in the fourth quarter.
  • Sewanee got the game-winner with 3:55 left as DeSales was unable to find the tying tally again.
