Georgetown, TX (March 5, 2024) - The DeSales University baseball team suffered its fourth straight loss falling to Southwestern University (TX), 4-3, in 11 innings on Tuesday evening.
DeSales took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run from juniorÂ
Owen Fischl. After Southwestern scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning, DSU got another in the top of the second inning on a double ground out.
Southwestern took a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning that stood into the ninth when the Bulldogs got the tying run on an RBI double from seniorÂ
Colin McCunney.
Neither team scored in the 10th and Southwestern won it in the bottom of the 11th on a bases loaded walk.
JuniorÂ
Justin DeStaso led the Bulldogs with two hits. JuniorÂ
Alex Chase pitched five strong innings allowing two unearned runs, striking out seven. JuniorÂ
Ashton Johnson took the loss pitching 3 1/3 allowing just one hit, striking out six.
DSU is right back at it tomorrow when they travel to Schreiner University.
