Women's Lacrosse Earns First-Ever Win over FDU-Florham, 14-10

Center Valley, PA (April 10, 2024) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team earned its first-ever win over FDU-Florham, 14-10, to stay unbeaten in the MAC Freedom on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 14, FDU-Florham - 10
  • Records: DeSales (9-2, 2-0 MAC Freedom); FDU-Florham (3-6, 0-2 MAC Freedom)
  • The win is the first-ever over FDU-Florham in eight career meetings.
  • It is DSU's fourth straight win, one shy of tying the longest winning streak in team history.
  • DeSales had 11 assists, giving them 93 for the season which is already a season record.
  • The Bulldogs are now just one win shy of tying the single-season record of 10 wins.
How it Happened
  • DSU took a 2-1 lead 6:35 into the game before FDU-Florham scored four straight to take a 5-2 lead early in the second quarter.
  • DSU rallied scoring five of the next six goals to take a 7-6 lead before the Devils finished the half scoring two of the last three goals to tie the game at eight.
  • The Bulldogs opened the second-half with two straight goals to open up its first two goal lead of the game.
  • FDU got within one twice but DSU continue to lead by two entering the fourth quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter DeSales blanked the Devils, holding them scoreless, while adding two goals to post the final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Hayley Petrosini had a goal and four assists to become the fifth player in team history with 100 career points.
  • Junior Jess Brey had four goals and two assists for six points, adding four draw controls.
  • Junior Meagan Landers finished with four goals and an assist and two draw controls.
  • Sophomore Hailey Linebaugh and sophomore Danielle Sieja each had two goals and one assist.
  • Junior Michaela Regan had nine saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
  • Alexis Ashton had three goals and one assist.
  • Jenna Ranney had two goals and three assists for five points.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs out-shot the Devils, 35-25, and enjoyed a 24-14 advantage in ground balls.
