Center Valley, PA (April 13, 2024) - The DeSales University softball team earned an important conference sweep taking two from Stevens in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.
The sweep moves DSU to 20-6 overall and 7-3 in the MAC Freedom Conference as the Bulldogs extend their winning streak to eight straight games.
Game One (W/4-1)
DSU scored solo runs in the second, third, fourth, and sixth innings to build a 4-0 lead. JuniorÂ
Tori Kenney had an RBI single in the third and sophomoreÂ
Morgan Benner had RBI singles in both the fourth and sixth.
JuniorÂ
Rachel Lowry did the rest limiting the Ducks to just six hits and one run in the top of the seventh inning. She struck out six and walked just one to earn her 11th win of the season in the circle.
Benner finished with three hits and two RBIs, Kenney had two hits, and seniorÂ
Madasyn Vernier had two hits in the win.
Game Two (W/9-1)
SophomoreÂ
Ava Goodman gave DSU a 2-0 lead in the second inning and the Bulldogs took a 5-0 lead with three runs in the third on a sacrifice fly from first-yearÂ
Paige Hromin, RBI single from seniorÂ
Alexys Vernier, and RBI double from first-yearÂ
Kiara Castera.
Vernier and Kastera added RBI singles in the fourth to make it 8-0 and DSU finished the game in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Kenney to make it 9-1.
JuniorÂ
Alanna Hartzell earned her sixth win of the year pitching six innings allowing just one run, striking out four.
Benner had another two hits and scored twice. Vernier finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Castera had two hits, and Goodman was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Monday when they travel to Elizabethtown College for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
