Men's Lacrosse Falls Short in Upset Bid; Falls to #13 Stevens, 15-7

Center Valley, PA (April 17, 2024) - The DeSales University men's lacrosse team fell short in its upset bid of #13 Stevens falling 15-7 in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: #13 Stevens - 15, DeSales - 7
  • Records: DeSales (7-6, 3-1 MAC Freedom); #13 Stevens (12-2, 4-0 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs fall to 3-9 all-time vs. the Ducks.
How it Happened
  • The first quarter was back-and-forth as neither team led by more than a goal and shots were about even (15-14) as the Ducks clung to a 3-2 lead.
  • DSU evened the score at three to start the second quarter before Stevens scored four straight goals to claim a 7-3 lead that was cut down to 7-4 at the halftime break.
  • After trading goals to start the the third quarter, Stevens scored once more in the quarter to take a 9-5 lead.
  • The Ducks dominated the fourth quarter scoring the first five goals to take a 14-5 lead and never looked back.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Senior Colin Adams, senior Pat Schuett, and junior Nate Perry each had two goals in the loss.
  • Adams and Perry added assists.
  • Junior Anthony Gash won 12-of-24 face-offs and had 10 ground balls.
  • First-year Sean Barley had three caused turnovers and picked up six ground balls.
  • Senior TJ Lowe was outstanding in goal making 21 saves.
For the Foes
  • Jack Savarese finished with five goals and one assist for six points.
  • Mikey Whiteside had two goals and two assists.
Inside the Box Score
  • Stevens out-shot DeSales, 54-29, and ground balls were about even, with the Bulldogs holding a slight 38-37 edge.
  • The Ducks won 14-of-26 faceoffs.
