Dallas, PA (April 19, 2024) - The DeSales University baseball team opened up its series with Misericordia University on Friday afternoon falling to the Cougars, 7-2, in MAC Freedom action.
The Bulldogs threatened to take an early lead putting runners on second and third with one out in the top of the second inning but were unable to get the run home and MU scored three times in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead.
The lead grew to 7-0 after a solo run in the fourth and three more tallies in the sixth.
DSU got two runs in the top of the seventh to cut into the lead but was unable to get any closer in the series opener.

Gavin Zavorski had two hits.

Ashton Johnson went the distance, pitching all eight innings allowing six earned.
DeSales hosts Misericordia tomorrow in games two and three at Weiland Park with first pitch set for 1:05 PM.
