Center Valley, PA (April 24, 2024) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team was unable to recover from a slow start falling to Misericordia University, 18-12, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics

• Records: DeSales (10-5, 3-3 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (6-8, 4-2 MAC Freedom)
• DSU falls to 0-7 all-time vs. the Cougars.

How it Happened

• The Bulldogs scored the first goal of the game and remained tied at two before the Cougars scored four of the next five goals to take a 6-3 lead.
• The lead swelled to four for Misericordia after one quarter and was five (10-5) with 8:03 left in the first-half.
• DSU got back-to-back goals to get within three at the 3:48 mark, but Misericordia scored four straight to end the half, taking a 14-7 lead into the locker room.
• DeSales got within six early in the third quarter and scored three straight goals to start the fourth quarter to pull within five but never any closer.

Top Bulldog Performers

• Junior Jess Brey led the way with five goals and one assist for six points, tying the single-season mark for points with 74 and is now one goal shy of tying the single-season record for goals with 57 tallies.
• Sophomore Christina DiGuglielmo added three goals and sophomore Hailey Linebaugh had three assists.
• Senior Hayley Petrosini finished with two goals.
• Sophomore Nicole Minelli played well in goal in the second-half allowing just four goals and making four saves.

For the Foes

• Michelle Torzilli had six goals and one assist.
• Rachel Shook added five goals and one assist.

Inside the Box Score

• Misericordia out-shot DeSales, 33-30, while DSU had a slight 16-14 edge in ground balls.
• The Bulldogs forced 18 Cougar turnovers.
• MU won 21-of-34 draw controls.

• DSU is now in a win and they are in situation hosting Arcadia University in the final regular season game in the MAC Freedom on Saturday beginning at Noon.  The winner will earn the #4 seed in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament next week.
