Ribeiro Scores Twice Leading Women's Soccer past Muhlenberg, 3-1

Center Valley, PA (September 10, 2024) - Senior Emma Ribeiro scored two goals and added an assist leading the DeSales University women's soccer team to its second straight win, 3-1, over local rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

  • This is DSU's fifth straight win in the series with the Mules moving DeSales to 6-4-1 all-time vs. its local rival.
How it Happened
  • Ribeiro got DSU on the board in the 27th minute as first-year Reagan Losquadro sent a long pass over the top down the right sideline to a streaking sophomore Jaden Cook who centered a pass to Ribeiro as she one-timed a shot past the charging keeper and into the net.
  • That lead stood into halftime as DeSales controlled play out-shooting Muhlenberg, 9-5, for the half.
  • Ribeiro led the charge on DSU's second goal, charging down the right side of the field, beating a defender into the box and finding sophomore Catherine Crampton in the middle of the box for a shot into the net for a 2-0 DeSales lead.
  • Muhlenberg got within one in the 65th minute as Ivy Dias scored unassisted.
  • Ribeiro got the insurance goal back in the 85th minute taking a ball at midfield, beating two Mule defenders down the field and firing a shot inside the left post for her second of the game.

  • Ribeiro moves into seventh place all-time with her seventh point of the season and the 56th of her career with her two goals and assist.
  • Crampton scores for the first time this season.
  • Losquadro and Cook both had assists on the first goal.
  • First-year Saige Santa Cruz made five saves in between the pipes.

  • Dani Klingener had eight saves for the Mules in the loss.
