Center Valley, PA (September 11, 2024) - The DeSales University field hockey dropped its second straight game to a nationally ranked opponent falling to #18 Ursinus College, 4-0, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics

• Final Score: Ursinus - 4, DeSales - 0
• Records: DeSales (1-2 overall), Ursinus (3-0 overall)
• This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams. 

How it Happened

• This game was tight the entire first-half and remained scoreless with three minutes left in the second quarter when after an injury took a key player off the field for the Bulldogs, the Bears took advantage scoring with 2:22 left in the half to take a 1-0 halftime lead.
• Ursinus added one more goal in the third quarter to make it a two goal game.
• DeSales had a chance later in the quarter to get back within a goal after being awarded a stroke, but senior Maddie Trocki shot went just wide as the score remained 2-0.
• The Bears added two more goals in the fourth quarter to provide the final tally.

Top Bulldog Performers

• Trocki led DSU with three shots on goal.
• Sophomore Alyssa Schlossman made three saves in the cage.

For the Foes

• Mary Lauren Franz had two goals and an assist for the Bears.
• Amanda Groeling and Eliza Donaldson also scored for Ursinus.

Inside the Box Score

• Shots were nearly identical as Ursinus had a slim 12-11 advantage, 7-7 on shots on goal.
• DSU had the upper hand in penalty corners, 5-2.
