Center Valley, PA (September 21, 2024) - The DeSales University women's soccer team was shutout falling, 2-0, to York in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

• Final Score: York- 2, DeSales - 0
• Records: DeSales (2-5-1 overall); York (4-1-3 overall)
• Bulldogs are now 2-11-1 all-time vs. the Spartans. 

How it Happened

• Both teams had a couple of scoring chances in the first half but there was nothing to show for it as the game was scoreless heading into the break.
• The Spartans came out hot to start the second half as it just took them three minutes out of the break to tally the game's first goal on a header by Morgan Joyce off a corner kick feed by Meg Kalthof to give York the 1-0 lead.
• York would add an insurance goal in the 58th minute on goal from Sara Frensley that came off a pass from Meg Kalthof for her second assist of the game that gave the Spartans a 2-0 lead and the final tally. 

Top Bulldog Performers

• Senior Emma Ribeiro led the team with two shots on goal. 
• First-year student Saige Santa Cruz made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

For the Foes

• Joyce and Frensley scored the goals for York.
• Kalthof tallied two assists. 
• Joss Metz had five saves in goal and recorded the win.

Inside the Box Score

• York had a 20-10 advantage in shots while both teams each had six shots on goal. 
• The Spartans took seven of the 10 corners kicks in the game.
