Women's Soccer Drops Third Straight, 3-0 to Elizabethtown

Center Valley, PA (September 25, 2024) - The DeSales University women's soccer team dropped its third straight game, 3-0, to Elizabethtown College in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Elizabethtown- 3, DeSales - 0
  • Records: DeSales (2-6-1 overall); Elizabethtown (5-2-1 overall)
  • Bulldogs are now 1-2 all-time vs. the Blue Jays. 
How it Happened
  • The Blue Jays got the scoring started in the 15th minute when Ava Whisten connected a one-timer on a ball that was initially saved by the keeper.
  • In the second half, Whisten provided her team with some insurance as she scored again to give Elizabethtown a 2-0 lead.
  • The Blue Jays had the final tally just three minutes later on a goal by Kayla Myer to secure the shutout win. 
Top Bulldog Performers
  • First-year student Saige Santa Cruz was outstanding in goal making eight saves for the Bulldogs.
For the Foes
  • Whisten led the Blue Jays with the two goals.
  • Myer had the other goal.
  • Kirsten Navich tallied two assists.
  • Marissa Vandernick and Maddie McWhinney each had an assist.
  • Adrienne McGallicher and Ella Smith each had two saves in goal. 
Inside the Box Score
  • Elizabethtown had a 14-10 advantage in shots and also had a 11-4 edge in shots on goal. 
  • The Bulldogs took all three corner kicks in the game.
