Late Run Leads Women's Basketball past Muhlenberg 62-50

Allentown, PA (November 22, 2025) - The DeSales University women's basketball team finished the game on a 16-0 run to take home a 62-50 win over local rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action on Saturday evening.

The Basics

  • The Bulldogs snap a two-game losing skid to the Mules and improve to 32-22 in the all-time series between the two teams.
How it Happened
  • The Mules were hot early taking a 14-3 lead over the first five minutes of the game.
  • DSU turned up the defense over the final half of the quarter, blanking MC over the final five minutes to pull within two (14-12).
  • A steal and lay-up from senior Julia Kowalski started the second quarter and finished off an 11-0 run to tie the game at 14.
  • The Mules answered with five straight points and built their lead up to eight points on a bucket with five ticks left just before the half.
  • DeSales trailed by nine early in the third quarter but clawed back to within one twice, including 42-41, after three quarters of play.
  • Sophomore Kayla Ishigami hit her third of three 3's early in the fourth quarter and senior Mikaili Donmoyer followed with a short jumper tying the score at 46.
  • Muhlenberg got a bucket and two more free throws to claim a 50-46 advantage with 5:42 remaining in the game.
  • A deep jumper from senior Sammi White was followed by one free throw from Donmoyer and senior Lindsay Bednarek converted a layup with 3:19 to go to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game (51-50).
  • A steal in backcourt led to another layup from Bednarek and soophomore Aubrey Pollard and Donmoyer scored back-to-back buckets to put DSU up 57-50 with 1:48 left and the Bulldogs finished off the win from the line the rest of the way.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Pollard recorded her first double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Bednarek added a team-high 12 points and sophomore Marissa LaVerghetta had 11 points and three steals.
  • Donmoyer finished with nine points.
For the Foes
  • Veronica Dawson had 15 points.
  • Katie McGrath added 13 tallies and Avery McNulty totaled 11 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 37.5 percent, but hit 53.8 percent in the fourth quarter.
  • DSU held the Mules to just 29.1 percent from the field.
  • The Bulldogs forced 18 Mule turnovers, leading to 14 points.
  • DeSales dominated the paint out-scoring Muhlenberg, 36-16, and the Bulldogs bench out-scored Muhlenberg's, 26-2.
